OPP Investigate Head-On Collision in Mulmur

Mulmur, ON (OPP - Dufferin Deatchment) On Saturday January 14, 2017 at 6:38 PM Dufferin OPP were dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury head-on collision on Airport Road north of Village of Mansfield in Mulmur Township. Dufferin EMS and Mulmur- Melancthon Fire Department responded as well.

Police are confirming they have six people injured including 4 persons with life threatening injuries. Fire Department are in process of extricating persons still trapped in the ‎vehicles. The Mitsubushi RVR was northbound and Toyota Camry was southbound at the time of the collision. The cause of the collision is still under investigation.

OPP have closed Airport Road between Dufferin County Road 17 and the 15th Side road while OPP technical traffic investigators process the scene.

**UPDATE: At 4:49 am on January 15, 2016 Airport Rd was opened in both directions. Officers have completed there on scene examination of this incident.

Dufferin OPP are confirming the 53 year old male driver(from Mulmur Township) of a 2014 Mitsubishi RVR was taken to area hospital then transferred to a Toronto Area Hospital with critical injuries including broken femur, broken sternum, broken wrist and head injuries and is in critical but not life threatening condition. A 20 year old passenger in the same vehicle was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.  

The occupants of the southbound 2008 Toyota Camry are as follows.

• The 58 year old female driver from Marmora, Ontario was transported to local hospital and then air lifted to a Toronto hospital suffering from neck, back and chest pain and an injury to her right leg and foot.
• An 18 year old male passenger also from Marmora, Ontario was taken to a local hospital treated and released.
• A 51 year old male from Stayner, Ontario (rear passenger) in the Toyota was taken to local hospital and then air-lifted to a Toronto Area Hospital with a dislocated right hip and broken left hip and broken shoulder.
• The other remaining rear passenger a 35 year old female from Stayner, Ontario was taken to a local hospital and then air lifted to a Toronto area Hospital with bi-lateral fractures to femurs, a fractured pelvis and internal bleeding.

**NOTE: After the collision a third vehicle northbound vehicle struck the Toyota Camry after some of the occupants had extricated themselves from the collision. This vehicle then fled the scene and failed to remain. Evidence from the second collision indicates that a blue Volkswagen is the suspect vehicle in the second collision and a driver’s side mirror was left at the scene.
